How It Works

Step #1
Material Donation
Our Primary Partners are Film and Theatre production studios around NYC as well as individual makers. When you become a partnering fabrication company, we provide you with a TSP bin and/or QR code stickers to put on your existing scrap piles. With these QR codes you are able to schedule your recurring pickup time or scan the code when your bin is full, for a speedy dumpster alternative. We accept a wide range of construction materials such as wood, stone, glass, paints and more!

Step #2
The TSP Resale Store
After your materials are picked up by a TSP Team member, your donations are then processed at our warehouse. Each scrap is categorized and priced at a discount from its commercial sale value and then made available in our material resale store and then resold by weight. Our goal is make these materials more accessible and affordable to local creatives and keep each scrap out of a landfill.

Step #3
The TSP Workshop
The Scrap Pile's mission is not only to offer discounted materials but offer affordable workspace where creatives can use those materials. By creating a community workshop with rentable work stations and classrooms, a full wood working shop, paint mixing and so much more, TSP can be a one stop shop for artists in need of studio space and community.
Creatives will have the opportunity to join different tiers of membership that include everything from discounted classes to free materials.

Step #4
The TSP Brand
We believe that collaboration is key to creating a more sustainable future. Our line of curated art and home decor features sustainable local artists and makers who turn our scraps into beautiful, unique finished pieces. TSP's hope is to have a storefront where each piece can be showcased to the local community and be available for purchase.
